I feel the need to make a post about her, this is Wangari Maathai, she died Sept 25, 2011 at age of 71. She was the first African woman to win the Nobel Peace Prize, and the first East African woman to get a Ph.D. (which she got in veterinary anatomy). She started theGreen Belt Movement where she mobilized rural women by the thousands to plant millions of trees (over 30 million to date in over 40 nations). She knew trees were the lungs of the earth, and without them man would not survive. She was a peaceful warrior who used her voice for the voiceless. She was a hero. A champion. She loved the earth and wanted us all to know we have a stake in preserving and protecting nature. RIP
